Israeli Generals Son Talks About Palestine

A very informative lecture on Palestine. Miko Peled is a peace activist who dares to say in public what others still choose to deny. He has credibility, so when he debunks myths that Jews around the world hold with blind loyalty, people listen. Miko was born in Jerusalem in 1961 into a well known Zionist family. His grandfather, Dr. Avraham Katsnelson was a Zionist leader and signer on the Israeli Declaration of Independence. His father, Matti Peled was a young officer in the war of 1948 and a general in the war of 1967 when Israel conquered the West Bank, Gaza, Golan Heights and the Sinai.

Artha, a handy English thesaurus in Ubuntu

I 've been hunting for an offline dictionary in Ubuntu Linux which is having similar features as wordweb. It took months for me to get to know about Artha (a free GPLed English dictionary and thesaurus for Linux based on WordNet.) Just like word web to check meaning of any word what we have to do is highlight the word to be checked and hit Ctrl + Alt + W . You can choose Artha to show meaning either in pop-up balloon or from dictionary (just like in wordweb).
To install Artha open your terminal and type sudo apt-get install artha or use synaptic pack or else ubuntu software sources.

Cynometra cauliflora or commonly Nam-nam is a native of Malaysia, grown mainly in northern Peninsular Malaysia and can be more widely cultivated in other states, mainly in kampongs and villages. The fruits are kidney-shaped, 5-10cm long and 5cm wide. The pod does not split open readily, but a line is visible along the fruit and divides it into two.

CATEGORIES OF PEOPLE PERFORMING SALAAH AND CATEGORIES OF HEARTS

People are divided into five categories when it comes to performing Salaah

  1. There are those who wrong themselves by failing to perform Wudu' perfectly, or pray at prescribed times of Salaah, ignoring its Arkaan (essential ingredients).
  2. There are those who perform Salaah on time, make perfect Wudu', and maintain its Arkaan; however, they lose their concentration during Salaah (Khushu') by listening to Satan's whisperings.
  3. There are those who perform Wudu' perfectly, concentrating during Salaah, but they constantly battle against Satan's whispering and insinuations, in order to prevent him from stealing their Salaah; these people are performing both Salaah and Jihaad against Satan.
  4. There are those who perform Salaah with complete submission to Allah. After they have completed Wudu', their hearts have fully surrendered to the worship of Allah and they forget about worldly affairs.
  5. There are those who perform Salaah with complete submission, sincerely focusing their hearts and minds on Allah, earing and loving Him as if they were looking at Him; Satan cannot whisper to them for they are contemplating their Lord. The difference between these people and others with regards to Salaah is far greater than the distance between the heavens and the earth. In short, they are closer to Allah in Salaah than at any other time.
  • The first type will be punished for their poor Salaah.
  • The second type will be held accountable for it.
  • The third type will have their sins forgiven for it.
  • The forth will be rewarded for it.
  • The fifth will become close to Allah, because they concentrate on Salaah with their hearts and minds; they subdue their desire' and Satan's whisperings.

There are three types of hearts

  1. The first heart is empty of Eaman and of any kind of good; this is a dark heart, which Satan no longer whispers into, because he, may Allah curse him, has already taken it as a permanent abode, and has full control over it.
  2. The second heart is illuminated with the light of Eaman, but there is still a certain level of desire within it, so Satan can whisper into it every so often. The Eaman of this heart fluctuates, it increases and decreases; sometimes it defeats Satan, whilst at other times it is defeated.
  3. The third hears is full of the light of Eaman; there is no desire that can affect it. This type of heart is always shining with Eaman, so Satan's whispering cannot affect it; in fact Satan is likely be burnt as soon as he comes close to it. This heart is like the heaven, protected by the stars, so if Satan comes close to it he is stoned and burnt at once. This type of heart is protected by Allah because it is the focal point of Tawheed, love of Allah, knowledge and sincere Eaman. Such a heart is therefore deserving of protection from the allurement and ruses of Satan.

How to install Dhivehi fonts globally in Ubuntu (Linux)

I posted how to install Dhivehi fonts easily in ubuntu in a previous article. However this method is only for "current user". Now I'll tell you few steps to take to install Dhivehi fonts globally in ubuntu.

Download and extract Dhivehi fonts package
Create a sub-folder in your home folder, you can call it anything you like, I'll be using the name fonts2install
Copy the contents of extracted Dhivehi fonts package to the new folder created
Open a terminal window and create a folder for your Dhivehi fonts within the global location (lets call it ttf-dhivehi-fonts) by typing sudo mkdir /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ ttf-dhivehi-fonts
Type your password when prompted to do so, and press ENTER
Copy all the fonts in your fonts2install folder to global font folder for Dhivehi fonts by typing sudo cp fonts2install/*.ttf /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-dhivehi-fonts and press ENTER
Type your password if prompted to do so, and press ENTER
